It was a landmark four days for Adams Allsorts sponsored athletes Kian Ashworth and Charlie Fairclough, who competed across multiple high-level darts competitions from Friday through Monday, delivering memorable performances and reaching significant milestones.
Friday 16th January: Tongue Moor Comp
The weekend began in style at the Tongue Moor Darts Competition, where Kian Ashworth claimed the title in impressive fashion. Kian's consistent scoring and clinical finishing saw him navigate through the field to lift the trophy.
Charlie Fairclough also enjoyed a strong run, reaching the semi-finals before his campaign came to an end. Both players demonstrated excellent form heading into Saturday's PDC Ladbrokes UK Open qualifier.
Saturday 17th January: PDC Ladbrokes UK Open Qualifiers
The action moved to Flights Sports Bar in Fleetwood for the UK Open Qualifiers - a chance for players to earn their place at the televised UK Open in Minehead (6th-8th March). Won by Jack Todd, Who came through a great field of players beating Andrew Mcguffie in the final.
Kian Ashworth - Last 32
Fresh from his Tongue Moor victory, Kian continued his excellent form with a commanding 5-2 victory over Lee Kilcoyne in the Last 64.
His Last 32 encounter against Tom Duggan proved to be one of the most dramatic matches of the day. Trailing 4-1, Kian showed tremendous character to fight back, winning two consecutive legs to make it 4-3. The atmosphere became heated after words were exchanged between the players, which seemed to spur both on. Duggan ultimately closed out the match 5-3 with a clinical 15-dart leg averaging 100, but Kian's fightback demonstrated his mental strength and competitive spirit.
Charlie Fairclough - UK Open Qualifiers Debut
Saturday marked a significant milestone for Charlie as he competed in his first ever PDC event. Taking to the main stage board at Flights Sports Bar, Charlie experienced the unique challenges of high level darts - the elevated stage, the atmosphere, and the pressure of PDC competition. Charlie lost 5-2 to John Hargreaves.
Charlie admitted feeling different playing at height on the stage and struggled with some bounce-outs, but the experience was invaluable. Every player has faced these challenges and this will serve Charlie well as he continues his development.
Sunday 18th January: ADC Events
Both players demonstrated their dedication by returning to competitive action on Sunday at separate ADC (Amateur Darts Circuit) events.
Kian Ashworth competed at Rogue's Sports Bar in their weekly free-to-enter ADC tournament. He secured a quality 4-2 victory over Harrison Kershaw in the Last 32, nearly finishing with a 160 checkout before composing himself to hit double tops. Kian's run ended in the Last 16 with a 4-0 defeat to Dillon Ditchfield, who went on to win the tournament.
Charlie Fairclough played in the JDC Vaults. The round-robin format saw Charlie finish his five group games with a 3-2 record, narrowly missing out on the Last 8 knockout stages by finishing 3rd in his group on leg difference - the finest of margins.
Monday 19th January: ADC Rogue's Sports Bar
Charlie returned to Rogue's Sports Bar on Monday evening for another ADC event, where he faced a very difficult group draw. His standout performance came against Louis Jones, currently 2nd in the Northwest ADC Rankings and one of the region's top players.
Despite losing 2-0, Charlie delivered an impressive 80 average and hit 2 x 180's, giving Louis a competitive match and demonstrating excellent scoring power against elite-level opposition. This performance showcased the quality Charlie is capable of producing and provided perfect preparation for the upcoming JDC Q School.
Looking Ahead
The experience gained across these four consecutive days of competition will prove invaluable for both players as they look ahead to upcoming events:
- 24th-25th January: Charlie Fairclough competes at the JDC Qualifying School in Bristol, aiming to secure an advanced tour card for the Junior Darts Corporation in 2026. His 80 average and big scoring against Louis Jones shows he has the consistency needed to compete at Q-School.
- 20th-22nd February: Both Kian Ashworth and Charlie Fairclough will compete at the PDC Development Tour in Leicester (Events 1-5), with Charlie making his Development Tour debut.
Adams Allsorts is proud to support both Kian and Charlie on their darting journeys. Their dedication to competing across four consecutive days, their performances against top-level opposition, and their professionalism throughout exemplify the talent and commitment we're privileged to sponsor.
From Kian's Tongue Moor Championship and Last 32 to Charlie's UK Open qualifiers debut and quality performances against excellent opponents, both players have shown they belong at the higher levels of competitive darts.
Congratulations to both players - onwards to Bristol and beyond! 🎯
